Employees of COMELEC in
Biliran receive commendation

NAVAL, Biliran – Hardwork
and dedication to the job pay. These what had earned the employees of the
Commission on Elections (Comelec) in the province of Biliran to receive
commendation from Comelec Central Office.
The Comelec employees in
Biliran who received a certificate of commendation from Resurreccion Z. Borra,
Commissioner-In-Charge in regions VI, VII and VIII are: Atty Sabino C. Mejarito,
Provincial Election Supervisor, Deogracias Salas, Municipal Election Officer (MEO)
of Kawayan, Marietta Ventulan, MEO of Caibiran, Alfredo D. Estoya (deceased),
MEO of Culaba, Nilo Masalihit, MEO of Biliran, Salud Vida G. Donaldo, OIC-MEO of
Culaba, Joelibeth Ong, Election Assistant 1 (EA) of Almeria, Lanie R. Quijano,
EA1 of Maripipi and Jorge C. Fabon EA 1 of Culaba.
The Comelec employees receive
the commendation for accepting the challenge to educate the Filipino electorate
and in grateful recognition in their active participation and wholehearted
dedication in the successful implementation of the Comelec Voters Education
Program in the province of
Biliran.
The certificate of
commendation given on
June 7, 2006
was also signed by Milagros L. Desamito, Director IV of the Education and
Information Department of Comelec Central Office.
Director Desamito was the one
who led the Voters Education Program of the commission and introduced it in the
province of Biliran last year.
Likewise, a memorandum dated
February 20, 2006 from Comelec Central Office was sent also to the employees of
Comelec-Biliran thru Atty. Sabino C. Mejarito acknowledging and commending them
as the new breed of Comelec employees for having initiated the kind of moral
commitment in helping the commission realize its primary goal of maintaining a
clean, honest and credible elections.
The memorandum was also in
recognition to the pledge of commitment of employees of Comelec-Biliran during a
two-day retreat and recollection entitled “Empowering Decision to Change” held
on January 11-12, 2006
in the province.
The document further
recognized the distinct brand of initiative and leadership which is exemplary
and worthy to be emulated by their peers in the commission.
Atty. Mejarito said that these
documents would prove that the voter’s education campaign in the province of
Biliran has already been noticed by the top officials of the commission.
He said that it is only the
province of Biliran that successfully implemented the program in the entire
country.
The chief of Comelec-Biliran
assures that he will exert his best effort to continue educating the electorates
here in the province of Biliran with the assistance of his personnel and with
the able help of the Comelec Community Volunteers (CCVs) plus the support of
some professional organizations in the province.
Atty. Mejarito added that it
is through giving them the proper and appropriate information and knowledge
about the electoral processes where people will arrive in selecting good leaders
in the community and in the country as a whole.
At present, personnel of
Comelec-Biliran with the assistance of 200 CCVs continued their voters education
campaign in the different barangays in the province of Biliran.
